Why this trip planner

Desk tools. Street tools. Same week.

Two modes

Plan at the desk. Carry it on the ground.

Most trip planners stop at a list. Hanoi Odyssey splits the week into Plan mode — meals, bookings, circuits, cash — and On Ground mode, a pocket day with check-offs and maps.

Meals

A meal-slot board, not a dumped reservation pile.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner sit on a week board so gaps are obvious. Old Quarter search ranks joints by traveler reputation, dish, and category. Fine dining filters by open day, then sends a table request.

Walking

Circuits ordered for the street, not the brochure.

Nearest-neighbor walking loops for the Old Quarter and lantern nights. Hours are checked against the clock on each row so you do not walk up to a shuttered door.

Carry

Maps, cash, and a pocket day.

Every restaurant and sight opens in Google Maps. A cash-to-draw panel keeps dong honest. On Ground is the field guide: one day, check-offs, no planning chrome.

Plan mode

Write the week.

Meal slots across the week so lunch does not vanish. Old Quarter search by traveler rank, dish, and joint type. Fine dining filtered to days the kitchen is actually open, with a table request from the page. Walking circuits ordered for the pavement. Hours checked against the clock.

On Ground mode

Walk the day.

Planning chrome steps back. One day, check-offs, maps on every restaurant and sight. The same book, a different job — a pocket itinerary, not a spreadsheet in the sun.

How it works

Three steps, no account.

  1. 01

    Open the live sample

A filed week in Hanoi is already loaded — real venues, working tools, synthetic travellers. No account.

  2. 02

Plan, then flip to On Ground

Fill meal slots, pin a walking circuit, request a table. Switch mode and the book becomes the day you are standing in.

  3. 03

    Remix it for your city

Keep the tools, change the destination, dates, and names. The household journal stays private behind Google sign-in.

Trip planner questions

What is Hanoi Odyssey?+

Hanoi Odyssey is a trip planner app built as a working book: you plan meals, walks, and bookings in Plan mode, then carry a pocket On Ground view while you travel. A live Hanoi sample week is open to anyone.

Is this a free trip planner?+

Yes. The public sample and remix tools do not require an account. Rita and Pranav open their locked itinerary with Rita/Pranav Login — Google sign-in, allow-listed accounts only.

How is this different from Google Docs or a typical itinerary app?+

Typical itineraries are a vertical list. This planner treats the week as a desk (meal board, circuits, hours, cash, table requests) and a field guide (On Ground check-offs and maps). The two modes are separate views, not the same page with a checkbox.

Can I use it for cities other than Hanoi?+

Yes. Remix the sample: set your destination, dates, and travellers. Venue search and table-request tools are written around a Hanoi week today; the Plan / On Ground shell is city-agnostic.

Is the sample someone’s real upcoming trip?+

No. The public sample uses synthetic travellers, a completed October 2025 week, and real public venues. It is a gallery of the product, not a personal journal.

Do I need to sign in?+

Not for the public sample. Rita/Pranav Login is only for their locked itinerary. Google must match an invited household account. Knowing the URL is not enough.
